The Supreme Court seems poised to decimate abortion rights. If adopted, the draft majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson would overturn Roe v. Wade, and with it, constitutional protections for millions of people.
The implications of this reversal threaten national protections for marriage equality, LGBTQ equality — even birth control.
Congress must act. While the draft opinion is still in fact a draft, we have a short window to demand the Senate do its job. It can protect the rights of millions of people by reforming the filibuster. It is the only way to pass federal legislation to protect democracy. It is also the only way for Congress to consider codifying the protections of Roe v. Wade and other measures.
