New Yorkers won a resounding victory for democracy three years ago when our state's leaders enacted an innovative public campaign financing system: a program that empowers voters and frees our elections from the unfettered influence of megadonors and corporate campaign spending.

But state legislators have been dragging their feet since then. We need to demand that our lawmakers heed the will of New York’s voters and set the public financing system up for success when they submit their final budget on April 1st.

The program’s launch in November 2022 was a major milestone for our state’s democracy — the program New Yorkers long waited for is now up and running. It will provide a powerful counter to the unfettered influence of megadonors and corporate campaign spending.

The Governor included funding in her budget and we need you to act to ensure that the program has the funding it needs. Now is not the time to abandon the system you promised.

I’m not alone in supporting this program. An overwhelming majority of New Yorkers want to stem the influence of big money in our elections. The program even has strong support across party lines.
